Football Set to Play On ESPNU When Hosting Harvard in ’24

PRINCETON, N.J. – It’s Friday Night Lights for the Cornell football team when it hosts Harvard on national television on Friday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. on ESPNU. The game, from Schoellkopf Field, marks the third straight season and the seventh time since 2014 the matchup between the programs will be televised nationally. As part of its long-term partnership with ESPN, the Ivy League announced its six-game football package set to air on ESPN linear networks this upcoming season on Wednesday afternoon.

Cornell Athletics Presents 2024 Senior Athlete Awards

ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell seniors Vito Arujau, Veer Chotrani, Izzy Daniel and Caroline Ramsey took home the Charles H. Moore Outstanding Senior Varsity Athlete Award on Monday evening during the school’s Senior Toast event. Manny Adebi, Rachel Bonnet, Sebastian Pardo and Rachel Zun earned the Ronald P. Lynch Senior Spirit Award, given to student-athletes whose leadership on and off the field model the ideals of the Big Red athletics department. Jacob Cardenas and Sydney Moore were recognized with the Mario St. George Boiardi ’04 Leadership Award for embodying leadership, athleticism and a strong work ethic. Paige daCosta and Jackie Lasseter were chosen to receive the Athletics Department Inspiration Award, given when a student-athlete’s accomplishments on and off the field inspire not only his or her teammates and coaches, but also his or her fellow classmates, professors and the entire Cornell University family.

ITHACA, N.Y. — The 2024 Nellies Award Ceremony, held on May 9 at the Statler Hotel and sponsored by the Cornell Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), celebrated Big Red student-athletes and their achievements over the past year. Hosted by Caroline Grove of heavyweight rowing and Sebastian Wolff of swimming and diving, the formal-attired event was attended by 500 student-athletes, coaches and staff.

Nourzad Selected By Chiefs in 2024 Draft

DETROIT, Mich. — Pick number 159. Round 5. Selection 24. Former Big Red offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad is joining the Kansas City Chiefs after being selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. Nourzad becomes the first Big Red to be selected in the draft since 2013 when JC Tretter was picked 122nd overall by Green Bay.

ITHACA, N.Y. – With the 2024 NFL Draft kicking off this evening, Cornell alumnus Hunter Nourzad is preparing to hear his name called. The 2022 graduate of the Big Red was a former two-time All-America offensive lineman, earning a third-team offensive line nod in the 2020 season and a second-team look in the 2021 season, a year when he was the long Ivy Leaguer to make the list. Nourzad was named an All-Ivy first-teamer and the Ivy League Offensive Lineman of the Year by Phil Steele in his final season with the Big Red. Since graduating, the Marietta, Ga., native finished out his final two years of eligibility at Penn State, where he appeared in 24 games, including making 21 starts, most often at center. He helped the Nittany Lions to a 21-5 overall record including two New Year’s Six bowl game appearances.

Deumaga Named Football Operations and Content Coordinator

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Roger J. Weiss ’61 Head Coach of Cornell Football, Dan Swanstrom has announced the addition of Julien Deumaga to his staff. Deumaga, a graduate of Ithaca College who played under Swanstrom in 2021, joins the Cornell football staff as the team’s Football Operations and Content Coordinator.
